at the invitation of the ieee dielectrics and electrical insulation society (deis), professor he jinliang delivered a webinar report titled “polypropylene based cable insulation materials” on july 11 at 14:00 beijing time. the webinar attracted experts and professors from both the industry and academia worldwide, who registered and joined to watch the presentation online.
in his report, professor he jinliang first reviewed the historical development of cables and the research progress in polypropylene based cable insulation materials. he then discussed the research advancements of his research group in the field of polypropylene cable insulation materials, covering topics such as material design based on machine learning and quantum chemistry, multiscale grafting performance modulation and mechanisms, large-scale industrial production, and applications in power grid engineering. in the question-and-answer session, researchers from countries such as the united states, france, and australia actively engaged with questions related to the presentation.
the global webinars of the ieee deis are jointly organized by the society itself and the ieee young professionals group. these webinars invite top experts in the field of dielectrics and electrical insulation from around the world to introduce cutting-edge advancements and share research experiences. previously, several ieee fellows and senior technical personnel from various companies were invited to give presentations. professor he jinliang is the first asian speaker to be invited.
earlier, professor he jinliang was also invited by the ieee power & energy society (pes) as the first asian scholar to deliver a webinar report on june 22. he, along with dr. yuan zhikang from tongji university (a postdoctoral alumnus admitted to the department of electrical engineering in 2019), presented a webinar report titled “advances in hvdc bushing using nonlinear materials: theory, materials, structure, and realization”. the presentation introduced the team’s research progress in nonlinear materials and their applications.
in recent years, professor he jinliang has proposed the concept of intelligent insulation materials and led his team in conducting fundamental theoretical and industrial application research in this field. this has generated significant international influence in the field of intelligent insulation materials.
