on january 10-11, 2023, the forum on operation and regulation of transformation equipment in urban smart grid, co-hosted by tsinghua university, zhejiang university, hefei university of technology, imperial college london, and cardiff university, with media support from the journal center of china electric power research institute, was successfully held on line. aim to promote the carbon-neutral process of urban energy systems in china and the uk, the forum shared the latest results of the joint research project “interactive operation and elastic regulation of transformation equipment in urban smart grid” funded by the national natural science foundation of china and the british engineering and natural sciences research council, and discussed the development and transformation strategy of urban smart grid and the main technical approaches to clean and re-electrified urban energy supply. the forum was chaired by tim green, a professor at imperial college london and a fellow of the royal academy of engineering.
on the first day of the forum, professor tim green of imperial college london and professor kang chongqing, dean of the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics (eea) of tsinghua university delivered opening speeches successively. they reviewed the favourable cooperation between the chinese and british teams in academic research and personnel training, and placed high expectations on this forum.

this forum provided a good communication platform for teachers and students of the five universities in china and the uk, and it was broadcast live on the official video account of “proceedings of the chinese society for electrical engineering”. there were 10,300 cumulative online viewers in the two days, and this forum further strengthened the academic exchanges between china and the uk and promoted the carbon neutral process of urban energy systems.
