recently, the final of the 4th “goldwind cup” energy innovation challenge came to an end. 26 teams from colleges and universities across the country participated in this competition. the teams of cheng xiang and fan ming from the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics won the special prize and the first prize respectively.

the competition scheme of cheng xiang, yu zhipeng and wu sirui’s team from sgool laboratory is “low-carbon chemical technology route based on green power — taking the synthetic ammonia industry in west inner mongolia as an example”. taking west inner mongolia, where there is rich wind and solar resources and large-scale chemical production capacity, as an example, the scheme proposes a low-carbon chemical ammonia synthesis technology route in west inner mongolia based on green power. the production cost of green ammonia can be greatly reduced by combining wind power generation with large-scale electric hydrogen generation units, and flexibly participating in the power market operation.

the “goldwind cup”, co-sponsored by xinjiang goldwind sci & tech co., ltd., the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics of tsinghua university, wind energy committee of china renewable energy society and wind machinery committee of china association of agricultural machinery manufacturers, is established to cultivate students’ interest, cognition and professionalism in the renewable energy industry, encourage more young people to devote themselves to promoting the global energy transition and creating a green future. since 2018, it has been held for 4 consecutive years so far, and more than 300 teams from dozens of colleges and universities have participated in the competition.
