the result of online appraisal of the 2022 international exhibition of inventions of geneva was announced on march 28, local time. all 9 projects exhibited by the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics won awards, including 3 gold awards, 5 silver awards and 1 bronze award. the number of gold medals and the total number of awards eea received ranks first among the participating departments of tsinghua university.
eea’s gold award projects are as follows:
near-zero loss and ultra-high efficiency 10mw dc transformer
professor zeng rong’s team completed the "whole-process near-zero switching loss modulation technology and ultra-high-efficiency high-density lo-igct dc transformer” project, developed a mw-class intermediate frequency isolation transformer with high power density and large inductance, broke through the igct-diode hybrid series voltage equalization technology, proposed a composite modulation method with near-zero switching loss in the whole process, and developed the first medium voltage dct in china and the dct with the largest capacity in the world, which greatly reduces losses and costs, and realizes multi-scenario engineering applications.
active distribution network energy management and cluster control system supporting distributed photovoltaic grid incorporation
the project of “active distribution network energy management and cluster control system supporting distributed photovoltaic grid incorporation” completed by professor wu wenchuan’s team has broken through the active distribution network self-discipline coordinated control technology widely accessed by distributed power generation, established an operation control system of “cluster self-discipline — coordination in clusters — coordinated power supply and distribution”, realized the friendly grid incorporation and efficient operation of new energy clusters, and developed the first regional distributed power generation cluster control and cluster dispatch system, which has been applied in a large scale, and was confirmed by professor shmuel oren of the american academy of engineering and other foreign experts as “a leading innovation in this field”.
carbon meter system for carbon emission measurement of power system
the “carbon meter system for electric power system carbon emission measurement” project completed by professor kang chongqing’s team has developed a carbon meter system for real-time carbon emission measurement in the power system. the system is based on professor kang chongqing’s original theory on carbon emission flow in the power system, traces the source of carbon emissions from electricity consumption in the power system by applying a “carbon label” to the power flow, and realizes the minute-level real-time accurate measurement of direct carbon emissions and indirect carbon emissions at the source side, grid side and load side of the power system. this achievement has been applied in changzhou, jiangsu and other places, the measurement result can guide users to reduce carbon by changing their own electricity behaviors, guide enterprises to produce low-carbon products and help the industry to save energy and reduce emissions.
in addition, five projects, namely the “clearing algorithm and trading platform for large-scale power market” and “data-driven power trading decision-making method and software platform” completed with the leadership of associate professor chen xin, “large-capacity dc interruption technology and high, medium and low-voltage serialized dc circuit breakers” completed with the leadership of professor zeng rong, “photovoltaic energy storage converter control technology based on dc bus voltage information” completed with the leadership of associate professor sun kai, and “energy brain of green and low-carbon smart city — integrated multi-energy flow energy management system based on unified energy route” completed with the leadership of professor sun hongbin, won the silver award. the “cloud energy storage and optimization software platform for power system” completed with the leadership of associate professor zhang ning won the bronze award.
the international exhibition of inventions of geneva is jointly organized by the swiss federal government, the geneva cantonal government, the geneva city government and the world intellectual property organization. it was established in 1973 and is held once a year (cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic), and has successfully held 47 exhibitions and 2 online special exhibitions until 2022, making it one of the oldest and largest invention exhibitions in the world.
