at 10:00 am on april 24, when the 110th anniversary of tsinghua university is approaching, academician li licheng, academician of the chinese academy of engineering and analuminumof the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics, was invited to "jingde tribune of the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics, and shared his understanding and vision of the future power grid with the teachers and students present in his lecture titled "transparent grid and new power system" in the reporting hall 3-217 of the west main building. more than 100 teachers and students, including academician han yingduo of the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics, zeng rong, deputy provost and director of academic affairs of tsinghua university, dean kang chongqing, deputy dean lu chao, yu zhanqing, and deputy party secretary wu wenchuan of the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics, attended this event.

at the beginning of the event, professor kang chongqing, dean of the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics, introduced the background and purpose of the tribune. then he introduced academician li licheng in detail to the teachers and students present. mr. kang pointed out that academician li licheng has always been concerned about guiding tsinghua students, and he has sent a message to the graduates online at the 2020 graduation ceremony of the department of electrical engineering and applied electronics, which is full of affection.

academician li licheng first described his experience of 60 years up to now since being admitted. he started working in 1967 and has been working for national health for more than 50 years. having briefly introduced his study and work experience, academician li licheng shared his thoughts on the development of the future power system in two cases.

academician li licheng mentioned that before 2015, we paid more attention to the power itself and still had great doubts about informatization. later, his thoughts were significantly changed by two cases. the first case concerns the transport system. academician li licheng pointed out that the road and vehicle conditions of the transport system can be displayed, and our power system can be more "transparent". the second case is israel’s agriculture. compared with the way chinese farmers farm, the farming way in israel is more like farming by scientists. take the dairy industry as an example, dairy cows in israel wear collars used to test their health, so the yield of milk is much higher. therefore, academician li licheng believes that we need to build a smart grid that integrates the energy grid and the internet, that is, a transparent grid. compared with traditional power grids, the breadth, depth, and accuracy must be improved, so that it is sensible, visible and controllable.
later, academician li licheng mentioned the concept of small and micro intelligent sensors. they are characterized in miniaturized, low power consumption, high precision, self-energy supply, high cost performance, high reliability, anti-interference, self-network building, attachable and high self-learning abilities. the use of this type of sensors is of great significance to the construction of a transparent power grid. academician li licheng further introduced more about this type of sensors. for current sensors, the interference resistance needs to be enhanced, which is mostly realized by the multi-chip technology now. in addition, they are also involved with technical points such as power matching and packet loss rate reduction; for voltage sensors, there are mainly two technical routes: displacement current measuring and voltage-dividing capacitor voltage measuring. academician li licheng introduced some test results and actual data, as well as the present research results and future improvement orientations.
moreover, academician li licheng also introduced some other intelligent devices, such as smart transformers and transparent transmission lines. next, academician li licheng mentioned the issues of chip protection and software platform construction under the digital twin power grid. at the end of the report, he emphasized that the transparent power grid needs to be supported by sufficient sensors, accurate sensor data and sensor installation conditions. in this way, the theory of transparent power grid can be realized.

introduction to academician li licheng
li licheng, studied in class 71 of high voltage technology, department of electrical engineering, tsinghua university from 1961 to 1967. in 2007, he was elected as an academician of the chinese academy of engineering, an expert of power grid engineering and dc transmission of china. he is now the chairman of the expert committee of china southern power grid corporation; the director of the chinese society of electrical engineering, the director of the dc transmission and power electronics committee; the chairman of guangdong energy research association, and the executive director of guangdong electrical engineering society. academician li licheng is the honorary president and professor of the school of electric power of south china university of technology; part-time professor and doctoral supervisor of tsinghua university, chongqing university and xi'an jiaotong university, etc.
academician li licheng has long been engaged in the research of power grid engineering construction and power system technology, dc transmission technology and ac/dc parallel power grid operation technology. he has participated in and organized the construction of china's first 330kv ac transmission project, the first 500kv ac transmission project, the first ±500kv dc transmission project, and the world's first ±800kv dc transmission project; he has initiated and presided over the research and development of china's flexible dc transmission technology, and world first uhv multi-terminal flexible dc transmission project based on voltage source converters; he has also proposed the theory of transparent power grid, and contributed to the development of power grid technology in china and the world.
academician li licheng's innovative research in the field of power systems has been recognized by the country and the industry. he has won the first and second prizes of the national science and technology progress award, and a number of provincial and ministerial science and technology awards; especially in 2017, he was awarded the special prize of the national science and technology progress award for the project of "uhv ±800kv dc transmission project" as the first completer. in 2016, he won the engineering prize of the 11th guanghua engineering science and technology prize; in 2018 he won the science and technology award of the ho leung ho lee foundation, and guangdong award of outstanding contribution to science and technology. because of his outstanding contributions, academician li licheng was also awarded the fame of the fifth (2012) national outstanding scientific and technological workers and cctv 2018 top ten national scientific and technological innovators. in the past decades, he has made great achievements in theoretical innovation, published more than 200 academic papers, compiled three academic monographs, and was granted more than 20 patents.

mr. gao jingde is a well-known electric power engineering expert, an outstanding educator, a member (academician) of the chinese academy of sciences, a former president of tsinghua university, the founder of the state key laboratory of power system and large power generation equipment safety control and simulation, and an ieee fellow.
