on the morning of april 22, the sci-tech achievement evaluation meeting on analysis and control of electromagnetic transient process of large capacity power electronic system organized by the ministry of education (moe) was held in beijing. 9 experts of the evaluation committee including zhou xiaoxin, academician of chinese academy of sciences (cas), luo an, academician of chinese academy of engineering (cae) and chen boshi, professor of shanghai university, and more than 30 members, including han yingduo, academician of the cae, liu xinmin, vice director of moe science and technology development center, kang chongqing, director of department of electrical engineering & applied electronic technology (eea), tsinghua university (thu), ma xiaoli, head of scientific research institute of tsinghua university, eea prof. zhao zhengming and his team members of large capacity power& electronic and new-type power transmission, attended the evaluation meeting.

the evaluation meeting was chaired by liu xinmin, deputy director of the moe science and technology development center, and welcomed by kang chongqing, director of the eea, tsinghua university. project team members including prof. zhao zhengming and associate researcher yuan liqiang made technical report, novelty search report, test report and economic and social benefit report respectively. relying on the key projects of the national natural science foundation of china, the first major project in the field of power electronics and the school-enterprise cooperation projects of three joint institutions, this scientific and technological achievement has undergone intensive scientific research for fifteen years, and has creatively carried out in-depth research from the perspective of system electromagnetic energy conversion and switching pulse transient process, thus forming a complete set of technologies in analysis and control of electromagnetic transient process of large-capacity power electronics conversion system. the technology has effectively improved the transformation ability and system reliability of the device, and has been applied to large-capacity power electronic equipment and engineering practice, having achieved remarkable social and economic benefits. the application report indicates that the direct economic benefit has exceeded 1.8 billion yuan in the past three years, and played an important role in the key national engineering fields and many overseas engineering projects, such as power transmission from west to east, gas transmission from west to east, new energy grid-connected transmission, regional power grids interconnection, and power quality improvement.

on the basis of listening to the reports of the research team, the experts of the evaluation committee highly affirmed the significant breakthroughs made by the scientific and technological achievement in the field of electromagnetic transient analysis theory and control of large-capacity power electronic systems, and questioned and discussed the specific technical issues. prof. chen boshi, member of the evaluation committee and professor of shanghai university, thought that this sci-tech achievement has great significance in the reliability research of power electronic system and has realized the accurate analysis and control of electromagnetic transient process. xiao xiangfeng, member of the evaluation committee and secretary-general of the power electronics branch of china electrical equipment industry association thought that this achievement has a very good leading and forward-looking character and has risen to a theoretical level. he suggested that further collaborative research be carried out with device manufacturers; academician zhou xiaoxin, director of the evaluation committee, affirmed the great significance of the results, and suggested relevant theories be further systematized and improved to establish the basic theoretical system of power electronics.
after discussion, the experts of the evaluation committee agreed that this sci-tech achievement has made significant breakthroughs in the field of electromagnetic transient analysis theory and control of large-capacity power electronic systems. it leads and promotes the development and progress in the theory and control of electromagnetic transient analysis of large-capacity power electronic systems at home and abroad, and has reached the international leading level.
