on the morning of april 11, the sino-british symposium on electric power market was held in the department of electrical engineering & applied electronic technology (eea), tsinghua university. scholars and experts from china and the united kingdom shared the basic situation, relevant technologies, experiences and lessons of their own electric market construction, and exchanged and discussed the future development planning, challenges and other issues. more than 40 participants, including representatives from the national development and reform commission (ndrc), bureau of energy, relevant universities, scientific research institutes, the british embassy and the swedish embassy, attended the meeting. the symposium was chaired by chen qixin, associate professor of the eea and vice director of energy interconnection research institute. prof. kang chongqing, director of the eea, also attended the symposium.

before the meeting, ms. sabina delivered a speech on behalf of the british embassy. this time, the british experts and their team were funded by the british strategic prosperity fund (spf). she expressed her gratitude to the eea, thu for hosting this symposium and wished it a complete success, so as to promote exchanges and cooperation between china and the uk in related fields of power market.

at the symposium, british scholars and experts first introduced the achievements and lessons learned from the construction of their own electric market. prof. li furong, from the university of bath, uk, introduced the evolution and challenges of transmission and distribution pricing in the uk grids. she pointed out that the reform of electricity market is a gradual process and needs to evolve to meet the needs of power development. dr. ma zhibo, from the uk state grid, introduced the basic situation of the uk electricity market and the next development plan.

subsequently, chinese scholars and experts introduced the spot market construction of each pilot unit in china. xi'an jiaotong university prof. wang xiuli introduced the relevant research results of cross-provincial and cross-regional trading mechanism and peak-shaving auxiliary service market mechanism for promoting new energy consumption in northwest china. sichuan university prof. liu junyong introduced the construction of sichuan spot market under the background of high proportion hydropower, and summarized the challenges encountered in the current market construction process and some scientific problems to be solved. zhejiang university prof. ding yi introduced the construction of spot market in zhejiang province and pointed out the unsolved problems in the last round of reform and the target of spot market construction. chen qixin, associate professor of tsinghua university, summarized the challenges faced by the current domestic spot market construction, and analyzed the task and implementation path of the spot market construction combined with the actual situation.
