at the invitation of the department of electrical engineering, michael graetzel, the father of dye-sensitized solar cells and professor of the federal institute of technology in lausanne, switzerland, attended the tsinghua forum for an excellent presentation entitled "molecular photovoltaics and perovskite solar cells"on the afternoon of september 21.
xue qikun meets graetzel
before the lecture, xue qikun, vice president of tsinghua university, met with prof. graetzel to discuss scientific issues of common concern and strengthening of cooperation between the two universities. teachers' representatives from the department of electrical engineering participated in the meeting. the forum is sponsored by the academic committee of the university, co-sponsored by the graduate union of the university and organized by the graduate branch of the department of electrical engineering.
speech by michael graetzel
in his report, graetzel introduced the birth and research progress of molecular photovoltaics in detail, and showed the new preparation methods and stability of perovskite solar cells, which are new stars in photovoltaic field in recent years. at the same time, he emphasized the "golden triangle" of solar cells, efficiency, stability and cost, which are indispensable. graetzel also took some examples of industrial applications and commercial deployment of solar cells.
in the free question-and-answer session, graetzel gave a detailed answer to the development direction of perovskite solar cells and the technical problems that need to be solved urgently.
the lecture was chaired by yi chen-yi, an associate professor in the department of electrical engineering, tsinghua university.
forum hall
at the end of the report, kang chongqing, director of the department of electrical engineering, presented the tsinghua forum memorial certificate to prof. graetzel, and the student representatives gave away the souvenir to graetzel.
mr. graetzel is one of the top ten cited scientists in the world, with an h factor of 224. he has published more than 1,500 papers. he is currently the director of the photon and interface laboratory at the federal university of technology (epfl) in lausanne, switzerland. he has been elected a member of the european academy of sciences, the german academy of sciences and the royal society of chemistry uk. graetzel has made great breakthroughs and achievements in the field of new energy, invented low-cost, easy-to-prepare dye-sensitized solar cells, greatly promoted the development of new perovskite solar cells, and made outstanding contributions to the development of green renewable energy.
