on the morning of september 14, the opening ceremony for the first leg of the series tour exhibition of "refreshing breeze, bright moon, vigorous pine - exhibition in memory of mr. gu yuxiu" was held in the hall at the first floor of the west main building in department of electrical engineering, so as to pay homage to mr. gu yuxiu for his outstanding contribution to china's electrical engineering and tsinghua university, and carry forward the fine tradition of respecting teachers and the tao. the ceremony was presided over by lu zongxiang, deputy director of department of electrical engineering. shen yanhong, director of general department of chinese society for electrical engineering (csee), li chaoying and wang hui, special consultants, fan baolong, director of history museum and archives of tsinghua university, liu huili, a staff member of history museum, zhu junpeng, a member of archives, kang chongqing, director of department of electrical engineering and secretary of the party committee, and more than 20 teachers and students attended the opening ceremony.
at the opening ceremony, prof. fan baolong introduced the work trends of tsinghua university in university history, department history and biographies of celebrities, praised the "brief history of tsinghua time: department of electrical engineering" organized by the department as the first department history of tsinghua, thinking the brief history plays pioneering and demonstrating effects, and contributes to the university's plan to compile the development history of institutes and departments. moreover, he expected that the collection and publication of a series of books on the history of faculties and departments in"brief history of tsinghua time" can be completed at the 110th anniversary of tsinghua university. mr. fan pointed out that mr. gu yuxiu was the first dean of department of electrical engineering, and he made great contributions to the establishment of the department, the recruitment of teachers and the cultivation of talents. the first stop of mr. gu yuxiu's tour exhibition is of special significance in department of electrical engineering. he hoped that more teachers and students will watch the exhibition and make the university’s history work play a greater role in the tsinghua's moral education and talent cultivation.

on behalf of the faculty and students of department of electrical engineering, kang chongqing welcomed all the distinguished guests, expressed his gratitude to the history museum and archives of tsinghua university and the chinese society for electrical engineering for their strong support, and deeply cherished the memory of mr. yuxiu's legendary and great life. kang chongqing said that mr. gu yuxiu, as the founder of the chinese society for electrical engineering and department of electrical engineering of tsinghua university, had made outstanding contributions in the fields of electrical engineering and modern control theory. he encouraged teachers and students to inherit and carry forward the spirit of mr. gu’s hard work and rigorous learning, brave to be pioneering and innovative, pursue excellence, and make contributions to the construction of the first-class university.

mr. gu yuxiu (1902-2002), courtesy name yi qiao, a native of wuxi, jiangsu province. as a scientist, educator, poet, dramatist, musician and buddhist master, he has a thorough knowledge of both western culture and traditional chinese culture. and well knows the past and the present. he is an outstanding master of literature and science in modern chinese history. he is one of the founders of the school of mechanical engineering tsinghua university and chinese society for electrical engineers, is also the first head of department of electrical engineering tsinghua university. this exhibition consists of 21 exhibition boards, which are divided into four parts: preface, centenary of life路years of tsinghua, great scholars路outstanding achievements, and world-renowned master. a large number of precious historical pictures and words are used to show mr. gu yuxiu's lifestyle and outstanding contributions in many fields during his centenary.
