main research directions of the team
flexible interconnected power grids refer to modern ac/dc interconnected power systems based on advanced technologies such as wide-area information, situational awareness, and power electronics, which greatly enhance their safety, stability, efficiency, and intelligence. perception control and key equipment are the core technologies, specifically divided into three research directions:
1) flexible dc transmission and dc grid technology.
2) situational awareness and control technology of flexible power systems.
3) dynamic simulation technology of new flexible energy systems.
the team has made many landmark achievements in high-power power electronic technology. in 2000, the team successfully developed the first large-capacity statcom device in china. in 2006, the team successfully developed the first ±50mvar statcom device based on chain converters in china. in 2011, they developed the world's largest capacity 35kv/200mvar chain-type statcom device, which was successfully industrialized. the team was responsible for the core tasks of china's first 863 plan project in the field of flexible dc transmission, and its achievements were successfully applied in the world's first multi-terminal flexible dc transmission project put into operation at the end of 2013.
in the field of perception and control of flexible grids, the team pioneered research on synchronous phasor measurement technology, with a market share of over 70% for the jointly developed measurement devices. based on measured wide-area data, the team achieved the world's first wide-area damping control project for ac/dc grids. focusing on sub-synchronous resonance/oscillation analysis and control issues, the team solved the difficult problems of quantitative analysis of oscillations and torsional vibration protection for steam turbine generators. they also pioneered the control method for sub-synchronous resonance of clustered wind power compensation transmission systems and applied it in practice.
based on the above achievements, the team has won a number of awards in recent years, including one national technical invention award, two national science and technology progress awards, one special prize for guangdong province electric power scientific and technological progress, one first prize of the ministry of education's technical invention award, three first prizes of china electric power science and technology, one first prize of the mechanical industry society's technological progress, and one first prize of inner mongolia autonomous region's scientific and technological progress.
